Advanced Buildings Program

Develops energy-efficient, building-related technology, including next-generation HVAC and smart building technologies, and business models for residential, multifamily, and commercial buildings.

Agriculture Energy Audit Program

Provides assistance to eligible farms and on-farm producers to identify electric and natural gas energy efficiency measures including but not limited to orchards, dairies, greenhouses, vegetables, vineyards, grain dryers, and poultry or egg producers.

Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®

Offers income-qualified homeowners in New York State a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency and home comfort while saving money.

Building Energy Code Development, Compliance, and Enforcement

NYSERDA provides training and support services to code enforcement officials, design professionals, energy professionals and the construction trades to improve compliance with and enforcement of the Energy Code. In addition, NYSERDA supports energy code advancement by encouraging the voluntary local adoption of a more stringent “stretch” energy code.

Buildings of Excellence

Buildings of Excellence recognizes eligible architects and developers whose projects simulate the design, construction, and operation of very low or zero carbon emitting buildings.

Build-Ready Program

Advances large-scale renewable energy projects by identifying sites that are consistent with the State’s permitting standards and are made build-ready for private renewable energy developers to construct and operate projects at these sites.

Carbon Neutral Buildings

The Carbon Neutral Buildings Roadmap is intended to help chart the course New York must take to make all homes and buildings carbon neutral by 2050.

Carbon Neutral Community Economic Development

Supports the planning, design, and installation of economic development projects to operate at net zero energy or net zero carbon performance at the facility-level or community-level.

Charge NY

Drive Clean Rebate for Electric Cars - Open to New York State residents, Charge NY’s Drive Clean Rebate offers a point-of-sale rebate of up to $2,000 towards the purchase or lease of a new plug-in electric car. Includes charging station information for residents, businesses, work places and multifamily buildings.

Clean Energy Communities

Recognizes and rewards village, town, city, and county governments in New York State for implementing clean energy actions to save taxpayer dollars, create jobs, and improve the environment.

Clean Energy Siting for Local Governments

Assists local governments with siting clean energy projects in their jurisdictions by working with them to implement best practices.

Clean Energy Standard

Aims to fight climate change, reduce harmful air pollution and ensure a diverse and reliable low carbon energy supply by requiring that 70 percent of New York's electricity come from renewable energy sources by 2030.

Clean Energy Training Services

NYSERDA is looking to establish a pool of contractors qualified to deliver training, develop curriculum and/or training tools, and provide market expertise and/or other services related to clean energy workforce development and training. Qualified contractors will have experience in one or more of the following categories: energy efficiency, renewable electric power generation, grid modernization and energy storage, alternative transportation, renewable fuels, or other related areas. In addition, NYSERDA also seeks contractors with experience developing certifications/credentials and reaching underserved populations who encounter barriers to accessing training and jobs in the clean energy sector.

Clean Energy Workforce Development

Supports a broad range of renewable energy and energy efficiency education and training programs for new and existing staff, aimed at creating an experienced workforce to support New York State’s growing clean energy economy.

Clean Heating and Cooling Communities Campaign

Support for communities to increase customer awareness of CH&C technologies, reduce installed costs, and jump-start the market by implementing multi-year campaigns consisting of community-based outreach and education focused on CH&C.

Clean Transportation Program

Supports the development, demonstration, and deployment of innovative transportation technologies and strategies that increase fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Climate Justice Fellowship

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is seeking applications to fund and provide professional development training/mentoring for year-long, full-time fellowships, for individuals currently residing in disadvantaged communities or from a priority population, to work within organizations and businesses that advance climate justice and clean energy priorities for disadvantaged communities. It is anticipated that fellows will work with community-based organizations, universities, municipalities, climate tech innovators/start-ups and clean energy businesses. Host employers must apply to the program with a fellow candidate identified.

Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act)

In 2019, New York passed the nation-leading Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act) to empower every New Yorker to fight climate change at home, at work, and in their communities.

Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Carbon Challenge

Supports capital investments by large energy customers to reduce carbon through energy efficiency, distributed energy, and other clean energy actions.

Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Financing Guidelines

Offers guidance to municipalities adopting Commercial PACE financing.

Community Heat Pump Systems

Supports the development and demonstration of low-carbon Community Thermal Systems installations in new construction and existing building retrofits.

Contractor Delivery Channel - Become a Contractor

Find out if your company can qualify and benefit from delivering NYSERDA programs. NYSERDA works with various partners and contractors to offer solutions that can help reduce energy usage and costs for residents, businesses, institutions, and municipal and nonprofit organizations in New York State. Participation requirements vary by program.

Empire Building Challenge

Supports replicable and scalable retrofit approaches to achieving low carbon in existing tall buildings. The Empire Building Challenge (EBC) is a public-private partnership between NYSERDA and leading commercial and multifamily real estate portfolio owners, developers, and occupants.

EmPower New York

Offers no-cost energy efficiency services such as insulation, air sealing, energy efficient light bulbs, and replacement of an inefficient refrigerator and freezer to low-income (such as HEAP-eligible) homeowners and renters.

Energy & Climate Equity

Learn how NYSERDA is working with frontline and historically marginalized communities in clean energy policy and program development processes through community engagement processes.

Energy Assessment Programs

A residential energy audit is a review of a home’s energy performance, including an assessment of both the home’s energy features and the household’s energy consumption patterns. Home energy audits identify how efficiently your home is operating and where your home is wasting energy.

Energy Efficiency and Clean Technology Training

NYSERDA is seeking proposals for training initiatives focused on advancing skills and preparing workers for jobs in New York’s energy efficiency and clean technology industry. Funding is available for proposals that meet the requirements of any one or both of two categories: (1) Training for Existing Workers and Individuals in Formal Training Programs; (2) Career Pathways for New Workers/New Entrants in Clean Energy. The following technology areas are eligible: High-efficiency heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and water heating; building electrification/heat pump technologies; insulation and air sealing; high-efficiency lighting and controls; building automation controls; smart grid and energy storage; electric vehicles and charging stations; as well as large-scale, land-based renewable energy generation that is actively supported through NY’s Clean Energy Standard.

Energy Efficiency for Commercial Tenants

Supports energy efficiency in commercial tenant spaces in New York State. Tenants and landlords can work with consultants to identify energy saving opportunities at any point of the lease lifecycle: from space selection and goal setting, to design and construction, occupancy and operations.

Energy Storage

Offers funding and technical support to building owners, municipalities, energy storage developers, contractors, and integrators for installing energy storage technologies.

Entrepreneurs-in-Residence Program

Guides early-stage companies through specific projects and issues, such as staffing for growth, budget management, resource planning, strategic partnering and board management. Entrepreneurs-in-Residence are seasoned executives that share experience, skills and acquired knowledge with early-stage companies.

Environmental Research Program

Supports monitoring and assessment of environmental conditions, informs policy, and fosters technological innovation related to energy use and production.

Flexible Technical Assistance (FlexTech) Program

Offers cost-shared technical services to help businesses operating in New York State make smart energy decisions. A dedicated team of engineers, technology experts, and energy consultants works with customers to create a customized assessment that identifies specific opportunities for reducing energy consumption and costs.

Green Jobs - Green New York Energy Studies

Offers subsidized energy studies to eligible small businesses and not-for-profits to help identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs.

Healthcare Energy Support

Offers no-cost technical assistance for healthcare facilities to develop a comprehensive, long-term energy management approach.

Heat Pump Program (NYS Clean Heat)

Heat pumps are a more efficient heating and cooling option that eliminate fossil fuels, can provide up to 100 percent of your heating and cooling needs, and help you save on your energy bills.

Home Energy Efficiency Programs

Aims to help New York State residents reduce energy waste and lower their energy bills. No cost energy audits and financing options are available. Incentives are available to income-eligible households through Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® which provides a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency and home comfort while saving money. EmPower New York provides free energy efficiency upgrades at no-cost to income eligible households.

Improve Your Home’s Comfort with Seal and Insulate Packages

This pilot program available in select markets helps homeowners save money and improve a home’s comfort year-round with “seal and insulate” packages. This program makes it easy to make smart investments for a more efficient home now and more affordable clean heating options in the future.

Innovative Market Strategies

Provides funding for emerging clean energy solutions in the areas of energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, and affordability and equity to bring clean energy adoption to scale in New York State.

Integrated Energy Data Resource

The Integrated Energy Data Resource will be one statewide data platform that will securely collect, integrate, and provide useful access to a large and diverse set of energy-related information. NYSERDA is leading the development of the IEDR with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement to ensure interested parties will be able to access and analyze the elements of the State’s energy system and customer information that are most useful to them.

Just Transition Site Reuse Planning

Supports activities associated with site reuse planning to ensure a just transition away from the state’s conventional energy infrastructure.

Loan Loss Reserve Program

Provides loan loss portfolio coverage to private lenders and finance providers for lending in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors.

Low-Carbon Capital Planning Support for Multifamily Buildings

Provides cost-share incentives for an energy study of your multifamily buildings or portfolio of buildings focused on electrification or electrification-readiness upgrades.

Low-Carbon Pathways for Multifamily Buildings

Provides funding to implement a low carbon energy-saving retrofit for multifamily buildings through incentive packages focused on four major building energy systems: Envelope, Ventilation, Heating and Cooling, and Domestic Hot Water.

Low-Income Forum on Energy (LIFE)

Brings together organizations and individuals committed to addressing the challenges and opportunities facing low-income New Yorkers as they seek safe, affordable, and reliable energy.

Multifamily Building Programs

Learn about incentives and technical assistance available to owners and managers of existing multifamily buildings.

Multifamily Financing

Explore affordable and flexible financing opportunities through NYSERDA and partner organizations to help make cost-effective energy improvements to multifamily buildings.

New Construction – Commercial

The New Construction - Commercial Program (NC-Commercial) supports the design, development and construction of carbon neutral buildings, reducing their energy consumption and per capita carbon emissions while ensuring the buildings are more resilient. NC-Commercial offers technical and financial support to Applicants and their design teams to identify and install energy efficiency, electrification, and carbon reduction opportunities to achieve Carbon Neutral Ready levels of performance in non-residential and mixed-use new construction, adaptive reuse, change of use, and substantial renovations to existing buildings. Carbon Neutral Portfolio Support is also offered through this funding opportunity.

New Construction - Housing

Supports new construction or gut-rehab of existing spaces to provide residents with energy savings and comfort. Support is available to participating builders who construct single-family homes or multi-unit residential projects that meet the New York ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes standard, including homes designed to achieve net-zero energy performance. Income-qualified homebuyers may be eligible for additional support.

New York Clean Transportation Prizes

Electrifying transportation, reducing air pollution, and enhancing clean mobility in disadvantaged communities across New York State while advancing efforts to achieve the State's clean energy and climate goals.

New York Generation Attribute Tracking System (NYGATS)

Records information about electricity generated, imported, and consumed within New York State. It can also issue, track, and manage energy attribute certificates and renewable energy credits (RECs).

New York State Appliance and Equipment Efficiency Standards

Establishes and adopts minimum energy and water efficiency requirements for residential and commercial products and appliances that are sold, rented, and leased in New York State.

New York State Clean Energy Internship Program

Provides funding to eligible clean energy businesses, organizations, and local municipalities hiring interns to perform meaningful work in the clean energy sector. Both clean energy businesses and interns can apply to participate in the program. Accepted businesses will select, interview, and hire interns, and NYSERDA provides reimbursement on a percentage of the interns’ wages.

New York State Strategic Fuel Reserve

Allows prequalified fuel distributors to access gasoline and diesel reserves and provide these fuels to emergency responders and other entities during a declared State energy emergency.

New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program

Accelerates the market acceptance of advanced vehicle technologies in the commercial truck and bus sectors.

NY Green Bank

NY Green Bank is a state-sponsored, specialized financial entity working in partnership with the private sector to increase investments into New York’s clean energy markets, creating a more efficient, reliable and sustainable energy system.

NY Prize

Helps communities create microgrids - standalone energy systems that can operate independently in the event of a power outage - through a first-in-the-nation competition.

Programs to help income-eligible New Yorkers and rental property owners save money and energy.

Offshore Wind

Supports offshore wind (OSW) energy as a major source of affordable, renewable power for New York State, especially for the New York City metropolitan area and Long Island. NYSERDA is the lead agency coordinating the offshore wind opportunities in the State.

On-site Energy Manager Program

Educates industrial and commercial companies about the value of an on-site energy manager to drive energy, process, and operational improvements in their business.

On-the-Job Training for Energy Efficiency and Clean Technology

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is seeking applications to advance the goals of the Clean Energy Fund (CEF) by developing a workforce equipped to perform jobs in energy efficiency and clean technology. NYSERDA will provide incentives to eligible energy efficiency and clean technology businesses throughout the supply chain to hire and provide on-the-job training for new workers.

P 12 Clean Green Schools Initiative

Helps public schools that traditionally lack resources to invest in infrastructure improvements become healthier, more productive learning environments.

P-12 Schools Initiative

Provides resources and programs to help P-12 schools lower energy use and utility bills while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

P-12 Schools: Green and Clean Energy Solutions

Provides cost-sharing and direct incentives to help reduce energy loads and assist in the conversion to carbon free fuels. Available to publicly or privately-owned pre-kindergarten through 12th grade schools.

Predevelopment Lending Program

Offers low- and no-interest loans for affordable multifamily buildings or small commercial properties to cover the cost of an Integrated Physical Needs Assessment (IPNA).

Real Time Energy Management (RTEM) Program

Supports real time energy management (RTEM) system and service providers who help eligible facilities in New York State with selecting appropriate RTEM systems and offers cost-sharing incentives for installing the systems. Assistance includes an in-depth analysis of energy usage data at the site and suggestions for capital improvements.

Regional Clean Energy Hub

Develops energy-efficient, building-related technology, including next-generation HVAC and smart building technologies, and business models for residential, multifamily, and commercial buildings.

Residential Financing Options

Residential Financing offers loan options to help finance energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements to NY State homeowners.

RetrofitNY

Solar Program (NY-Sun)

Provides incentives and financing to make solar-generated electricity accessible and affordable for all New York homeowners, renters, and businesses. Using solar can help lower energy costs compared to using conventionally generated electricity. Additional program components include training for installers and public officials, standardized permitting processes, and consumer education.

Strategic Energy Management Program

Offers training to industrial facilities that are interested in optimizing energy use through a continuous improvement approach. SEM focuses on changing business practices to enable companies to reduce energy consumption and waste.

Offers exclusive assistance to SUNY institutions to navigate and implement available energy programs and services.

Workforce Training - Building Operations & Maintenance

NYSERDA’s Building Operations and Maintenance Workforce Development and Training Program seeks to reduce energy use and associated carbon emissions while saving building operators and owners money by developing and strengthening the skills of operations and maintenance (O&M) staff and managers across the state. In particular, the program is intended to equip building O&M workers with the skills to operate increasingly energy-efficient, grid-flexible, and electrified building systems that reduce buildings’ contribution to climate change. The goal is to support building owners, facility managers, property management companies, business associations/trade groups, and organized labor associations in creating the talent development strategy, corporate culture, on-site training framework, and tools needed to advance building O&M workers beyond classroom training.
