New York Solar + Storage Summit
October 13, 2026 - October 14, 2026Albany Capital CenterNew York Solar + Storage Summit 2026 Distributed Energy in NY: from Rounding Error to Critical Infrastructure Description: New York’s energy system is facing a significant set of challenges: electricity demand is rising, reliability margins are tightening, and affordability concerns are growing. Historically, New York’s energy planning and policy debates have focused on large-scale, centralized infrastructure—transmission and wholesale generation. But inflation, permitting constraints, and long development timelines have exposed a widening gap between the pace of new infrastructure deployment and the speed of load growth driven by economic development, electrification, and artificial intelligence. At the same time, distributed energy resources (DERs) are emerging as an increasingly important part of the solution. New York’s rooftop and community solar industry is adding more than a gigawatt of capacity annually, while a growing pipeline of dispatchable battery energy storage systems (BESS) is poised to provide flexibility, capacity, and reliability when the grid needs it most. As New York considers how to meet rising demand for electricity quickly and cost-effectively, DERs are no longer rounding error. They are becoming a critical key tool for delivering the affordable, reliable, and clean energy system envisioned in the 2025 New York State Energy Plan. Join the New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA) and more than 800 leaders from the public and private sectors at the 2026 New York Solar + Storage Summit, a 1.5-day conference and trade show focused on distributed energy resource deployment, and the rapidly expanding role of DERs in powering New York’s future.
