Completing an energy study of your building can help you identify and evaluate opportunities to reduce energy costs and incorporate clean energy into your capital planning. The FlexTech program shares the cost to produce an objective, site-specific, and targeted study on how best to implement clean energy and/or energy efficiency technologies.
Eligible Facilities
- Commercial, industrial, institutional, and multifamily facilities including small businesses and not-for-profits:
- Must pay into the electric System Benefits Charge (SBC)
- Limited funds available for industrial sites who do not pay into the SBC
- Small businesses and not-for-profits may also be eligible for a subsidized Green Jobs - Green New York Energy Study
- P-12 Schools:
- 100% cost share for public under-resourced schools [XLSX], priority districts [PDF] and non-public schools located in a disadvantaged community
- Not required to pay into SBC
- 75% cost-share for all other schools
- Funds also available for School Bus Fleet Electrification plans
- 100% cost share for public under-resourced schools [XLSX], priority districts [PDF] and non-public schools located in a disadvantaged community
Your Roadmap to Energy Savings
Completing a FlexTech study provides building owners and operators with actionable recommendations that are tailored to their needs, helping make better investment decisions on energy projects. A FlexTech study can help you determine:
- Which clean energy projects or building upgrades are right for you
- How to reduce your energy bills
- The payback on potential energy-related building upgrades
- How to develop a capital plan that includes clean energy components
- How to electrify your fleet of school buses
Eligible study areas can include:
- Energy efficiency technical analyses
- Investigation of an advanced technology or system
- Creation of a long-term energy plan
- Investigation of deep energy savings
- Clean heating and cooling systems including air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, variable refrigerant flow, and solar heating and cooling
- Investigation of distributed energy resources
- School bus electrification studies
