Watt Fuel Cell Receives $2.1 Million Army Contract to Demonstrate New Manufacturing System for Fuel Cell Components

Watt Fuel Cell Corporation - Port Washington, NY

September 16, 2014

Watt Fuel Cell received a 20-month, $2.1 million contract from the U.S. Army to design and build a commercial-grade additive manufacturing line, and demonstrate and evaluate the line’s increased capacity for production of tubular cell components for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems. The company is seeking to remove the "art" from SOFC production, essentially reducing the process to simply adding raw materials, selecting the fuel cell type and pressing "go". This level of automation would translate into reproducible components, higher yields and, most importantly, reduced costs.
