Quality Assurance Internship - Albany Office

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, known as NYSERDA, promotes energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. These efforts are key to developing a less polluting and more reliable and affordable energy system for all New Yorkers. Collectively, NYSERDA’s efforts aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate economic growth, and reduce customer energy bills.

The Quality Assurance team is seeking an intern to join our creative team working to develop systems and analysis for a wide variety of renewable energy programs. The intern position on the Quality Assurance and Market Standards team fills an important role of archiving and distributing QA inspection schedules and reports and documenting responses from participating installers. In addition to these activities, the intern will assist the Project Manager in a workflow improvement project to streamline processing quality assurance reports and responses. The intern will also help transition workflow from the current external SharePoint and email tracking system to a new SalesForce platform managed internally at NYSERDA, effectively improving cycle time for report distribution and installer responses.

This is a paid internship for current, matriculated students. Selected candidate must be available to work onsite during the school year.  Students will work up to 18.5 hours per week during the semester, and up to 37.5 hours per week in between semesters, when not attending class. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data on several data-based renewable energy projects under the guidance of QA team members
  • Contribute to the creation a new workflow system to manage the receipt of Quality Assurance (QA) field inspection reports
  • Data entry assistance. Provide support for form reviews and file reviews
  • Assist in the creation, distribution or delivery of internal support materials
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports related to renewable energy in NYSERDA’s portfolio
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current, full-time undergraduate or Masters student, pursuing a degree in finance, energy economics, engineering, business, policy, or similar subject matter
  • Basic understanding of project fundamentals
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • A quick learner, with a strong work ethic
  • Skill in managing multiple activities, delivering on commitments, and operating with speed, accuracy, and strong judgment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to follow defined processes
  • Demonstrated ability to research primary and secondary sources
  • Positive attitude, enjoy working with and helping others
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with various applications, web interfaces/portals
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
