Market Characterization and Evaluation Internship - Albany Office

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, known as NYSERDA, promotes energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. These efforts are key to developing a less polluting and more reliable and affordable energy system for all New Yorkers. Collectively, NYSERDA’s efforts aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate economic growth, and reduce customer energy bills.

This is a paid internship for current, matriculated students.  Selected candidate must be available to work onsite during the school year.  Students will work up to 18.5 hours per week during the semester, and up to 37.5 hours per week in between semesters, when not attending class. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers in researching and analyzing topics related to program evaluation and energy markets, policies and technologies
  • Provide general evaluation support
  • Assist in compiling large amounts of data over time, preparation of datasets, and data quality assurance
  • Collect and organize information, including market data, in order to help implement evaluation plans, memos, reports, and other documents and presentations
  • Create charts, tables and other tools to communicate data
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current, full-time undergraduate or Masters student
  • Policy analysis and technical writing skills
  • Excellent skills with the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Statistical analysis and GIS preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to research primary and secondary sources
  • Skill in managing multiple activities, delivering on commitments, and operating with speed, accuracy, and strong judgment
  • Strong work ethic
