Buildings of Excellence - Early Design Support Program
The Buildings of Excellence (BOE) Competition previously provided two distinct funding opportunities: the Demonstration and Early Design Support programs. The Buildings of Excellence Competition continues to fund demonstration projects, but early design support will now be offered and expanded to all residential projects through New Efficient Homes New York: Enhanced Design Support.
NYSERDA’s investment in the design phases of new construction projects ensures that high-performance, clean, and resilient solutions are seamlessly integrated into project designs from the start where design choices are most impactful. Prioritizing high-performance in the beginning builds a firms' capacity to adopt and scale across their portfolio making it a standard business-as-usual practice.
Building Market Leadership
Early Design Support partners are qualified design firms that are elevating new design approaches for a zero-emission future in New York’s multifamily buildings that prioritize occupant health, safety, and comfort. Early Design Support partners are advancing clean, energy efficient buildings by investigating topics such as; high-performance, architectural design attributes, resiliency, non-energy co-benefits, embodied carbon and greenhouse gas reduction, innovations in design and construction, and economic effectiveness with scalability potential.
