To ensure New York residents receive the savings benefits of the product and equipment efficiency standards, the Advanced Building Codes, Appliance and Equipment Efficiency Standards Act of 2022 Link opens in new window - close new window to return to this page., includes provisions for enforcement. Any manufacturer, distributor, retailer, or installer selling, leasing, renting, or installing noncompliant products may be subject to enforcement, which may include financial penalties. The New York Department of State is responsible for enforcement actions for the New York State Appliance and Equipment Efficiency Standards. 

Manufacturers, distributors, retailers, or installers who sell, lease, rent, or install products that do not comply with the standards could face fines of up to five-hundred dollars for each violation and one-hundred dollars for each day in violation.
