Rulemakings
NYSERDA establishes appliance and equipment efficiency standards for products that are sold, rented, leased, and installed in New York State through public rulemakings.
In 2022, NYSERDA adopted efficiency standards and test procedure requirements for 21 product categories which align with existing appliance efficiency standards in other states. Details on adopted standards can be found in Current Standards.
NYSERDA will continue to develop new energy and water efficiency standards in the future.
Refer to the Regulatory Process and Public Comments sections for details on each stage of the rule making process to establish Appliance and Equipment Efficiency Standards.
There are currently no open rulemakings.
