Assessment of Energy Efficiency, Electrification, and Decarbonization Potential in the New York State Industrial Sector:
Phase One

As directed by the New York State Public Service Commission, NYSERDA sponsored this assessment of energy efficiency, electrification, and decarbonization potential for New York State’s industrial sector, conducted in consultation with Department of Public Service (DPS) Staff and New York utilities. This study estimates emissions and energy savings potential over a 20-year period, from 2023 to 2042. The main objective of the study is to identify and explore statewide decarbonization potential opportunities in the industrial sector. A secondary objective is to inform the design and planning of energy efficiency, electrification, low-carbon fuel, and carbon capture interventions, though the study scope does not include estimating program potential that any prospective energy efficiency program could attain.
