FlexTech Studies on Indoor Air Quality

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is funding technical analysis conducted by leading engineering firms for commercial office, healthcare, university, government, cultural, and P-12 school buildings to investigate COVID responsive indoor air quality improvements that account for energy efficiency.

The analysis will be conducted on a minimum of 22 commercial buildings across New York State. The qualified FlexTech Consultants conducting this work will evaluate, document, and disseminate to the public the energy impacts of introducing Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) and advanced air filtration methods with COVID safe operating procedures, as described in ASHRAE and Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) guidelines. Specifically, the evaluations will examine safe and efficient filtration, ventilation, and HVAC controls improvements, as well as other building operation optimization measures that in conjunction with UVGI will reduce operational costs and provide safe IAQ.

Preliminary Reports from these studies will be updated on a monthly basis and will be published on the Preliminary Reports page.
