New York State is working toward a clean energy transition that prioritizes greenhouse gas emission reduction, environmental protection, and growing economic opportunities. The collective efforts of NYSERDA, New York Power Authority (NYPA), Canal Corporation, Department of Public Service (DPS), and the Department of Environmental Conservation – to transform New York for a more sustainable future will be showcased through interactive activities and exhibits at the Center of Progress Building.
Fairgoers can dive into educational exhibits on a range of sustainability topics, including solar energy, building decarbonization, grid resilience, and ecotourism on New York’s canal system. Attendees can participate in several interactive exhibits, too, including:
- DPS invites fairgoers to test their knowledge of utility services and win a prize.
- NYSERDA will have an induction cooktop on display, showcasing energy and environment-friendly alternatives to home cooking.
- NYS Canals will demonstrate how the locks on the Erie Canal operate and support New York’s tourism industry. DEC is bringing living trees into the exhibit area with “advice from a tree” signs offering arbor-inspired insights via haiku poems.
NYSERDA will be in attendance for the full 13-day celebration, running from August 21st to September 2nd. The NYS Energy & Environment Experience will be open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
