Become a Loan-offering Contractor
NYSERDA offers Green Jobs - Green New York Loans (GJGNY Loan), administered through the GJGNY Residential Financing Program. As a participating contractor, your customers have access to GJGNY Loans to help finance energy audits and energy efficiency improvements, including solar energy and other renewable installations, for owners of residential one-to four - family buildings.
To participate in the GJGNY Residential Financing Program, follow the steps outlined below by program area.
Step 1: Become a Participating Contractor
Energy Efficiency
Participating contractors in EmPower+, the Comfort Home Pilot or contractors with PSEG Long Island are already approved as participating contractors in the GJGNY Residential Financing Program. Proceed below to Step 3.
If you are not a participating contractor noted above, complete Step 2 and Step 3 below.
Solar (PV) Installer
Participating contractors in NY-Sun proceed below to Step 3.
If you are not already a participating NY-Sun contractor, you must first become a NY-Sun Participating Contractor to participate in the GJGNY Residential Financing Program.
NYS Clean Heat Contractors
NYS Clean Heat participating contractor approved before May 3, 2022, proceed below to Step 3.
NYS Clean Heat participating contractor approved on or after May 3, 2022, complete Step 2.
If you are not a NYS Clean Heat participating contractor, you must first become a NYS Clean Heat Participating Contractor 
to participate in the GJGNY Residential Financing Program.
Step 2: Submit Contractor Application
Read the Participation Agreement [PDF] and the GJGNY Financing Program Manual [PDF] then submit a contractor application [PDF] if you are:
- a NYS Clean Heat participating contractor (approved by NYS Clean Heat on or after May 3, 2022)
- an energy efficiency contractor not participating in EmPower+, or with PSEG Long Island
NYSERDA will provide contractor application status to you within 2 weeks of your application submission.
Step 3: Sign Up with Energy Finance Solutions NYSERDA’s Loan Originator
Energy Finance Solutions (EFS) originates the GJGNY Loan transactions, on behalf of NYSERDA. These transactions include: loan application reviews, loan originations, loan closures, proceed distributions to participating contractors, loan submissions to the loan servicer.
To participate in the GJGNY Residential Financing Program, contractors must complete a participation agreement and other requested information with EFS.
Step 4: Offer GJGNY Residential Financing to Customers
Upon approval, you may begin offering your customers GJGNY Residential Financing to help finance the energy efficiency measures or renewable technology you install.
Contractor Advance Payment Options
As a participating contractor in the GJGNY Residential Financing Program, you can apply to access advance payments when an energy efficiency or renewable project is financed in whole or in part using the reduced interest rate (3.49%/3.99%) GJGNY Loan.
To get started:
- Must be in good standing (never suspended or on probation within prior 12-months of submitting the Advance Payment Participation Agreement Signature Form) in an eligible NYSERDA or utility program.
- Read the current GJGNY Residential Loan Fund Residential Advance Payment Program Contractor Participation Agreement [PDF].
- Complete the Participation Agreement Signature Form . NYSERDA will contact you within 2 weeks of your application to confirm participation status.
