Commercial New Construction Program

The Commercial New Construction Program offers objective technical and financial support to commercial building owners and tenants to effect a permanent transformation in the way buildings are designed and constructed in New York State.

NYSERDA project managers and regionally based consultants will work with building owners and their design teams to analyze efficiency opportunities for new or substantially renovated commercial buildings. Additional support is available for projects which are being designed for deep energy savings, zero net energy and for projects which incorporate smart building technologies.

Who Can Apply

Businesses, State and local governments, not-for-profit and private institutions, public and private schools, colleges and universities, and health care facilities interested in installing electric efficiency in new or substantially renovated buildings are encouraged to apply. Buildings must be served by electric utilities participating in the System Benefit Charge (SBC).

The Commercial New Construction program also offers increased incentives and higher project funding caps through the Clean Energy Action Plan to customers affected by a natural gas constraint. This includes Con Edison customers in Southern Westchester and NYSEG customers in Lansing, NY that currently pay into the SBC.
