Upstate Public Housing Authority Pathway
Technical Support for Upstate Public Housing Authorities
NYSERDA’s Upstate Public Housing Authority (PHA) Pathway, a new technical service within the FlexTech program, helps Upstate PHAs learn about and access energy efficiency and building electrification programs. With the Upstate PHA Pathway, authorities can get the support needed to qualify for money-saving energy programs faster. The Public Housing Authority Cohort will facilitate information sharing and build a project pipeline to participate in incentive programs.
To access these no-cost technical services, interested PHAs must be part of the PHA Cohort. It is through this Cohort, PHA’s will be able to access the following resources:
- Personalized support from an energy service provider over a 12-month engagement period to analyze your portfolio for energy and cost saving projects
- Facilitated workshops to learn about energy conservation and energy efficiency programs
- Peer-to-Peer learning and insights with other public housing authorities
- Seamless transition from technical assistance program to implementation program
Cohort Eligibility
Eligible applications must be an established Public Housing Authority maintained by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Buildings located in Westchester, Kings, Queens, Suffolk, Nassau, New York, and Richmond Counties are ineligible to apply.
How it Works
- Interested PHAs apply to the PHA Cohort
- NYSERDA reviews submitted application to confirm eligibility
- NYSERDA and the PHA have a kickoff call to:
- Review Cohort participation
- Identify available energy service providers for PHA selection
- Review the workshop schedule
- Energy service provider applies to the FlexTech program on behalf of the PHA
- PHA is able to access the no-cost technical assistance available to members of the Cohort (Please note that technical assistance work completed prior to the submission of a FlexTech application is ineligible for funding.)
