Local governments can convert at least half of the municipal cobra-head- and/or decorative-style street lights within the jurisdiction to energy-efficient LED technology.

• NYPA's Smart Street Lighting NY and the Smart City Technology Grant Program
  The New York Power Authority (NYPA) provides local governments with full turnkey LED street light conversion services including: lighting audit; engineering and design; bidding and procurement; construction management; and environmental services. NYPA provides low rate financing for qualified customers, including the option to finance the purchase of the system as part of the project. NYPA offers the option to bundle your streetlight conversion project with other energy efficiency projects. NYPA's Smart City Technology Grant Program is also available to help communities to improve public safety and operational efficiency.
• LED Streetlight Academy Webinars
  NYSERDA and the Lighting Research Center (LRC) of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute are teaming up for the LED Streetlighting Academy – a series of four webinars to educate local governments on LED street lighting options and better prepare municipal decision-makers for interacting with contractors and the public.
