Renewable Heat NY
The Renewable Heat NY (RHNY) program provided incentives toward the installed costs of high-efficiency, low-emission wood heating systems for homeowners and businesses not currently using natural gas. As of August 20, 2021 all of the funding for RHNY was fully allocated and no new incentive applications are being accepted.
Benefits of High-Efficiency, Low-Emission Wood Heating Systems
- New high-efficiency systems are automated and cleaner burning.
- More efficient combustion means less fuel is required.
- Incentives help offset the cost of replacing or supplementing existing systems and installing new systems.
The following installers/contractors have participated in the Renewable Heat NY program.
The following technologies were previously qualified for the Renewable heat NY program.• Pellet Stoves
Pellet Stoves listed on the US EPA Certified Wood Stoves list as having a particulate matter output of 2.0 grams per hour (PM 2.0 g/h) or less and an actual measured efficiency of 70% efficient or greater.
See the list of EPA Certified Wood Stoves for a list of pellet stoves and pellet stove inserts currently in production.• Cordwood Boilers and Pellet Boilers
Boilers listed on the qualified technology [PDF] list.
RHNY Training Opportunities
Although incentives are no longer available through RHNY, online training webinars are scheduled through 2021 to offer technical training on the installation of small biomass boiler systems. You can sign up for the webinars on training opportunities page.
