The New York Voucher Incentive Program (NYT-VIP) is a program to speed up the market acceptance of advanced vehicle technologies in the commercial truck and bus sectors in New York State.
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) created the NYT-VIP to speed the market introduction of low-emitting trucks and buses. It is done by reducing the cost of these vehicles for truck and bus fleets that purchase and operate the vehicles in the State of New York. The NYT-VIP voucher is intended to reduce about half the incremental costs of purchasing advanced technology heavy-duty trucks and buses. These vehicle technologies will include hybrids, natural gas vehicles, zero-emission vehicles, and diesel particulate emission reduction traps.
In the area of advanced transportation systems, Research and Development is directed at enhancing mobility, reducing congestion, and improving transportation energy efficiency with advanced mass transit and highway infrastructure technologies.
