Environmental Research Program

 

NYSERDA’s Environmental Research Program aims to increase the understanding and awareness of the environmental and public health impacts of energy choices and emerging energy options, and provide a scientific foundation for creating effective and equitable energy-related environmental policies and resource management practices.

How It Works

The program supports monitoring and assessment of environmental conditions and fosters technological innovation related to energy use and production. That work provides objective, science-based information to help address immediate and long-term, energy-related environmental challenges across New York State. The program also supports an interdisciplinary approach to building research capacity and seeks to ensure that findings of the research program reach appropriate policy audiences.

How To Participate

The program has catalyzed numerous multi-institution collaborative efforts, bringing diverse perspectives and expertise into many projects. Working collaboratively with universities, government agencies, industry, the environmental community, and the public, the program conducts research on the following topics that affect New York’s environment:
