Integrated Energy Data Resource (IEDR)

New York is transforming its electricity system into one that is cleaner, more resilient, and more affordable. Effective access to useful energy data will play a critical role in this transformation. An Integrated Energy Data Resource (IEDR) will be created to provide a solution to data access needs.

What is the Integrated Energy Data Resource (IEDR)?

One statewide data platform that will securely collect, integrate, and provide useful access to a large and diverse set of energy-related information.

The IEDR will enable effective access to useful energy-related information acquired from the State’s energy utilities and other sources in a cost efficient and expeditious manner.

NYSERDA is leading the development of the IEDR with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement to ensure interested parties will be able to access and analyze the elements of the State’s energy system and customer information that are most useful to them.

Stakeholder Engagement

Meaningful stakeholder participation is essential to the success of the IEDR initiative.

All interested stakeholders are invited to participate in an initial process to identify, characterize, and prioritize IEDR use cases. NYSERDA conducted the first virtual workshop on June 4, 2021 to provide stakeholders with an opportunity to ask questions regarding the process and to set expectations for stakeholder engagement.

In addition to the initial workshop described above, NYSERDA and DPS will be conducting sector-specific workshops for groups of stakeholders and/or organizations to assist them in the preparation of responses to the questions presented for comment. These sessions will provide an opportunity for focused discussions addressing use cases related to specific industry sectors or groups of stakeholders. The discussions conducted during these sector-specific workshops are not a substitute for written comments and will not be formally included in the compilation of comments by NYSERDA. The workshops will be conducted between June 21, 2021 and June 25, 2021. Please email iedr@nyserda.ny.gov to request and sign up for a meeting time.

Stakeholders are invited to provide initial recommendations addressing the identification and prioritization of use cases. To facilitate the preparation and review of stakeholder comments, NYSERDA created a template [PDF] for use in responding to the specific questions presented below.

Stakeholders may submit comments individually or as a member of a group. The deadline for the submission of written comments is July 23, 2021. Comments must be submitted using the use case template and emailed to NYSERDA at iedr@nyserda.ny.gov.
