Air Source Heat Pump Program

Setting the temperature of an air source heat pump to 68 degrees with a remote control

Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) transfer heat between the inside of a building and the outside air while creating a more comfortable indoor environment. Recent technological advancements in ASHPs make them a strong alternative to conventional heating in colder regions like New York State.

To support this cleaner, more efficient technology, NYSERDA’s Air Source Heat Pump Program is working with ASHP installers to expand New York residents’ access to clean, renewable heating and cooling technology.

NYSERDA invites HVAC contractors to participate in the program and accelerate the adoption of ASHPs as a cost-effective, clean alternative to conventional HVAC methods like high-emission mini-split air conditioners. Participating installers receive financial incentives on a first-come, first-served basis for each qualified ASHP installation. The program is currently only available for residential installations in single-family or multifamily homes.

If you’re interested in ASHP for your home, contact a participating installer.

Benefits for Participating Installers

Through this program, NYSERDA will provide participating installers with:

  • $500 per qualified ASHP system installed to be used to grow your ASHP business
  • Assistance in offering more ASHP solutions and products to your New York State customers, allowing you to build a larger portfolio of services
  • Promotion and visibility to New York customers searching for installer recommendations via NYSERDA’s website

NYSERDA will provide up to $10.95 million in incentives to participating installers for the installation of program-qualified ASHP systems in residential sites, including single-family and multifamily buildings. Incentives of $500 per an installed program-qualified ASHP system are available on a first-come, first-served basis, up to $500,000 per participating installer. Installers can decide how best to use the incentives to maximize growth of their ASHP business.
