Awards Announced
2023 Offshore Wind Solicitation
On February 29, 2024, Governor Hochul announced the result of NYSERDA’s fourth offshore wind solicitation, in alignment with the State’s 10-Point Action Plan . The conditionally awarded projects are Empire Wind 1 (planned 810 MW) and Sunrise Wind (planned 924 MW). For more details, visit New York’s Offshore Wind Projects webpage.

Description: This map shows the combined project areas for Empire Wind and Sunrise Wind, the proposals selected for contract negotiations. Empire Wind is located centrally in the New York Bight and Sunrise Wind is far to the east of Montauk, Long Island. Proposed port facilities, including the Port of Coeymans, the Port of Albany, Port Jefferson, South Brooklyn Marine Terminal, Homeport Pier, and the Arthur Kill Terminal, as well as proposed onshore substations at Gowanus, Brooklyn and Holbrook, Long Island are noted.

At their closest points to shore, the Empire Wind project is approximately 14 miles from the western end of Jones Beach State Park, and the Sunrise Wind project is over 30 miles from Montauk Point at the eastern tip of Long Island.
