Project Description

Hillside Grove I is the first of three phases in the Hillside Grove development in Staten Island. Located at the site of a former New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) sanitation garage, the new construction project will bring 144 units within 134,082 square feet of affordable and supportive housing to this Staten Island neighborhood located within a New York State designated disadvantaged community. As the winning submission for the Housing Preservation Department's (HPD) Jersey Street RFP, Hillside Grove I responds to the city's acute housing shortage while prioritizing neighborhood integration and exceptional energy performance. Designed to Passive House certification standards, this project will utilize ground source heat pumps, energy recovery ventilators, electric vehicle charging stations, restorative green spaces, and improved streetscapes that reconnect surrounding communities.
