Apex Building Group and Bridge Street Development Corporation are leading the new construction of Bergen Green, a 120,615 square foot, 12 story, mixed-use affordable housing development providing 123 affordable units on the site of a city-owned parking facility in Brooklyn's Prospect Heights neighborhood. Pursuing PHI Classic certification, this building features geothermal heating and cooling, backup battery storage, electric vehicle charging, rooftop solar, subsurface stormwater detention, and terraces incorporating green roof elements. It will be among the first to utilize the Ultra-Low Energy Building (ULEB) zoning bonus through City of Yes for Carbon Neutrality, increasing the project's unit count by nearly 10% serving as a replicable model for how leading-edge energy performance can work in tandem with local affordable targets.
