Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Acceleration Program

Vendors of packaged Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems can pre-qualify systems. Packaged CHP systems may consist of one or more prime movers and can be from 50 kW to 1.3 MW in size.

Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Performance Program

Promotes the installation of clean, efficient, and commercially available Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems with an aggregate nameplate greater than 1.3 MW that provide summer on-peak demand reduction. Provides support for installing natural-gas-fueled CHP equipment in commercial, industrial, institutional, or multifamily facilities.

Provides distributors, contractors and vendors of energy-efficient HVAC products and services with information, tools and expertise that enable them to profit from business models that deliver effective energy-saving solutions to their commercial and industrial customers.

Provides distributors, contractors and vendors of energy-efficient lighting products and services with information, tools and expertise that enable them to profit from business models that deliver effective energy-saving solutions to their commercial and industrial customers.

Commercial/Industrial Motor Systems Business Partners

Provides distributors, contractors and vendors of energy-efficient motors systems and services with information, tools and expertise that enable them to profit from business models that deliver effective energy-saving solutions to their commercial and industrial customers.

Works with customers to implement a comprehensive strategy to realize verified energy savings through an integrated approach to cost-effective energy efficiency measures.

Provides technical assistance and support to design teams and building owners involved in building more energy-efficient structures in New York State.

Demand Management Program

Helps businesses optimize energy usage, manage costs, and reduce system-coincident peak demand. This Con Edison and NYSERDA partnership provides support and technical assistance for the best energy solutions. Con Edison electric customers in New York City and Westchester are eligible.

Speeds the adoption of underused technologies by testing them in real-world situations. FlexTech

Offers a wide range of flexible, cost-shared technical services to help businesses operating in New York State make intelligent energy decisions. A dedicated team of engineers, technology experts, and energy consultants works with customers to create a customized assessment that identifies specific opportunities for reducing energy consumption and costs.

Fuel Cell Programs

Supports the installation of fuel cells for businesses, hospitals, multifamily buildings, and other large power consumers. Fuel cells convert natural gas to a hydrogen-rich fuel that is combined with atmospheric oxygen in an electrochemical process to produce electricity, heat, and water. Fuel cells emit significantly less carbon dioxide than conventional combustion engines. They give off virtually none of the harmful pollutants associated with burning fossil fuels.

Green Jobs - Green New York Multifamily Building Financing Program

Supports efforts of building developers, owners, and facility managers to improve energy efficiency of any existing residential buildings of five units or more, including gut-rehab projects and market-rate and affordable housing.

Offers a range of programs designed to help New York State residents reduce energy waste and lower their energy bills.

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®

Offers homeowners in New York State a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency and home comfort while saving money.

EmPower New York

Offers no-cost energy efficiency services such as insulation, air sealing, energy efficient light bulbs, and replacement of an inefficient refrigerator and freezer to low-income (such as HEAP-eligible) homeowners and renters.

Industrial and Process Efficiency Program (IPE) - Data Centers

Offers support to improve energy efficiency and IT productivity projects in data centers.

Large Commercial Pellet Boiler

Supports the use and installation of high-efficiency, low emission wood technology to heat homes. A pellet boiler heating system includes a high-efficiency pellet-fired boiler, thermal energy storage, outdoor pellet storage, and necessary control systems.

Low-rise Residential New Construction: Gut-Rehab

Supports renovation of an existing home or residential building, or converting an existing building or space for residential use. Support is available to participating builders who construct single-family homes or multi-unit residential projects that meet the New York ENERGY STAR Certified Homes standard. Income-qualified homebuyers may be eligible for additional support.

Low-rise Residential New Construction: Multifamily

Supports the construction of energy-efficient dwelling units of any size, style or price range that can be designed and constructed to the standards required of a New York ENERGY STAR® Certified Home, including rental units, townhomes, or condominiums. Support is offered to participating builders who construct single-family homes or multi-unit residential projects that meet the New York ENERGY STAR Certified Homes standard. Income-qualified homebuyers may be eligible for additional support.

Low-rise Residential New Construction: Net Zero

Supports the construction of homes designed to achieve net-zero energy performance. Net zero homes are capable of producing as much energy over a year as it will need to supply the home’s energy needs, offering recurring savings and greater value to homebuyers. Support is offered to participating builders who construct single-family homes, multi-unit residential, and commercial projects that meet the New York ENERGY STAR Certified Homes® standard. Income-qualified homebuyers may be eligible for additional support.

Low-rise Residential New Construction: New York ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes

Supports the construction of energy-efficient New York ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes, offering savings and greater value to homebuyers. Support is offered to participating builders who construct single-family homes that meet the New York ENERGY STAR Certified Homes standard. Income-qualified homebuyers may be eligible for additional support.

Multifamily Performance Program: Existing Buildings Component

Offers support to owners, facility managers, building developers, and condo/co op boards of multifamily buildings with five or more units who want to make their existing buildings more energy-efficient.

Multifamily Performance Program: New Construction Component

Offers support for constructing energy-efficient, multifamily structures with five or more units to building owners and developers, of multifamily buildings.

New York State Clean Air School Bus Program

Reduces the amount of air pollution that children are exposed to from school buses. The program provides support to school districts in New York State for purchasing and installing emission-reducing technology such as diesel oxidation catalysts diesel particulate filters, engine pre-heaters that reduce the need to idle buses on cold mornings, and alternative-fuel school buses.

NY Prize Initiative

NY Prize is a first-in-the-nation $40 million competition designed to engage communities in creating microgrids and other local energy networks that can function separately from the utility grid. Microgrids can provide vital public services and power to residential customers and critical operators such as hospitals, first responders and water treatment facilities. New York communities, businesses, entrepreneurs, and electric utilities can advance plans to generate and distribute power locally to reduce costs and promote clean energy, reliability, and resiliency through community-based microgrids.

NY-Sun (Solar Electric)

Multifaceted approach aims to lower energy costs for all New Yorkers by increasing solar power capacity and the efficiency and reliability of the electric grid. Public-private partnerships help make installing solar technology more affordable for all New Yorkers while scaling up New York’s solar industry. In addition to the Solar Electric Program, NY-Sun also includes training for installers and public officials, standardized permitting, customer aggregation, and consumer education.

On-Bill Recovery Financing Program

Allows loans for energy efficiency improvements to be repaid through energy savings on the customer’s electric and gas utility bill.

Renewable Heat NY

Supports the use of high-efficiency, low emission wood technology to heat homes and commercial buildings. This initiative encourages quicker development of the industry, raises consumer awareness, supports the development of New York-based advanced technology heating products, and develops local sustainable heating markets that use biomass as fuel.

Residential Pellet Stove

Supports the use and installation of high-efficiency, low emission wood technology to heat homes. Because the stoves are more efficient, they burn less fuel and often save homeowners money.

Small Wind Turbine Incentive Program

Increases the amount of clean, renewable energy that is generated in New York State by providing support for installing on-site wind turbines in size up to 2 MW per site. The program offers assistance with qualified equipment with a proven track record installed by eligible installers. Support is based on the estimated annual output of the behind-the-meter turbine, at the proposed site, as determined by computer modeling.

Charge NY

Drive Clean Rebate for Electric Cars - Open to New York State residents, Charge NY’s Drive Clean Rebate offers a point-of-sale rebate of up to $2,000 towards the purchase of a new plug-in electric car.

Clean Energy Communities Program

Recognizes and rewards village, town, city, and county governments in New York State for implementing clean energy actions to save taxpayer dollars, create jobs, and improve the environment.

Clean Energy Siting for Local Governments

Assists local governments with siting clean energy projects in their jurisdictions by working with them to implement best practices.

Clean Heating and Cooling Communities

Support for communities to increase customer awareness of CH&C technologies, reduce installed costs, and jump-start the market by implementing multi-year campaigns consisting of community-based outreach and education focused on CH&C.

Clean Transportation Program

Supports the development, demonstration, and deployment of innovative transportation technologies and strategies that increase fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Commercial New Construction Program

Provides technical assistance and support to design teams and building owners involved in building energy-efficient structures in New York State.

Community Energy Engagement Program

Offers locally based energy awareness and education for residents, small businesses, and multifamily building owners, with a focus on low-to-moderate-income households and communities. Community Energy Advisers will help community members of all income levels lower their energy costs and increase deployment of distributed energy resources by increasing the amount and diversity of funding and financing being invested in clean energy projects.

Your local Community Energy Resource is one of 12 constituency-based organizations (CBOs) in New York State that can help homeowners, small businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and multifamily building owners to cut energy waste, save money, and live or work more comfortably. NYSERDA’s CBO partners are dedicated to helping New Yorkers save money and live or work more comfortably.

Will identify the best candidates for large, multi-building geothermal ground-source heat pump installations by providing free technical assistance and financial support. Open only to qualified colleges and universities, K-12 schools, State and local governments, and hospitals in New York State.

Ground Source Heat Pump Rebate

Offers support for the installation of ground source heat pump systems at residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings. Funding is available only to eligible designers and installers of renewable heating and cooling systems that have been approved by NYSERDA.

Provides incentives and financing to make solar-generated electricity accessible and affordable for all New York homeowners, renters, and businesses. Using solar can help lower energy costs compared to using conventionally generated electricity. Additional program components include training for installers and public officials, standardized permitting processes, and consumer education.

P-12 (Prekindergarten through Grade 12) Schools Initiative

Provides resources and programs to help P-12 schools lower energy use and utility bills while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

P-12 Benchmarking Program

P-12 Benchmarking Program provides free energy benchmarking services to pre-kindergarten through grade 12 (P-12) schools for up to three years. These benchmarking services provide schools with a mechanism to measure, track, and assess their energy use and greenhouse gas emissions to help them better understand their energy usage and to improve energy efficiency and performance.

Renewable Heat NY

Supports the installation of high-efficiency, low emission wood heating technology for residential, municipal, and commercial buildings. These advanced technology heating systems enable consumers to use local wood pellets and cordwood as fuel in a cleaner way. Technologies include stoves and pellet and cordwood boilers with thermal storage, many of which are made right here in New York State.

REV Campus Challenge

Recognizes and supports colleges and universities in New York State that implement clean energy projects and principles on campus, in the classroom, and in surrounding communities.

REVitalize

Offers funding to community-based organizations, that represent low- to moderate-income communities or environmental justice areas, to plan for, develop, and implement community-scale clean energy projects.

Smart Grid Program

Supports the modernization of New York State’s electric grid through innovative technology and distributed energy resources.
