Local government officials across New York State—municipal board members, first responders, code enforcement officers and other community stakeholders—can access prerecorded webinars or register for upcoming sessions to obtain information and resources to ensure responsible battery energy storage system development.

Battery Energy Storage for Code Officials

Featured Speakers: NYSERDA's Clean Energy Siting team, Energy Safety Response Group (ESRG)

This two-hour course covers the 2025 New York State Fire Code requirements for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including fire safety, permitting, inspections, peer review, and code compliance considerations for safe design and installation. This training is eligible for New York State Department of State In-Service training credit for Building Safety Inspectors and Code Enforcement Officials, though others are welcome to attend.
