This manual presents design assistance information for a range of hydronic heating systems using cordwood gasification boilers and wood pellet-fired boilers. The information presented includes lessons learned and best practices based on NYSERDA-sponsored research projects and biomass boiler systems.

Hydronics for High Efficiency Biomass Boilers Training

This training examines best practices for combining modern, high-efficiency wood-fired boilers with hydronic distribution systems. It covers the operating characteristics of wood-gasification boilers, pellet-fired boilers, wood-chip boilers and the latest hydronic heating technology that can complement these high-efficiency heat sources. The hydronic topics covered include low temperature heat emitters, high-efficiency circulators, modern control techniques, and options for water-based thermal storage. Developed for NY contractors in partnership with John Siegenthaler and Appropriate Designs.
