Projects Selected for Contract Negotiation

Under the New York State Public Service Commission's July 2018 Order, which set the framework for the first phase of solicitations, NYSERDA has selected two proposals for contract negotiation. Information regarding pricing will be made public with the filing of NYSERDA’s Phase 1 Report as required by the Order.

The two projects, with a combined capacity of 1,696 megawatts, will produce enough electricity to power more than 1 million New York homes. The projects will bring a combined economic impact of $3.2 billion to upstate, downstate, and Long Island, will support more than 1,600 jobs in project development, component manufacturing, installation, and operations and maintenance, and will directly offer well-paying careers with salaries of approximately $100,000 per year.

The selection of these projects positions New York as the hub of the United States’ burgeoning offshore wind industry and is a significant step towards meeting the State’s legislative mandate of 9,000 megawatts by 2035, the largest commitment to offshore wind by any state in the country.
