Project Description
Livingston Apartments Phase II is a new four-story multifamily housing project consisting of 80 units and spanning 69,169 square feet. The property is located within a designated disadvantaged community in Albany on the historic Philip Livingston Magnet Academy, which was previously converted to affordable housing in 2015. The new construction project will be the sixth partnership between WinnDevelopment and Soldier On, a nonprofit organization providing housing and social services to formerly unhoused veterans. The property’s outdoor courtyard space and hydroponic greenhouse aims to foster a healthy community atmosphere for residents.
The project is pursuing low-income housing tax credits and is committed to achieving both NYS Housing and Community Renewal’s Sustainability Guidelines as well as Passive House certification. This will serve as an important and replicable precedent for clean and resilient low-income housing development in New York by utilizing technologies such as geothermal, battery storage, and prefabricated framing components.
