Project Description
Carmen Villegas Apartments (CVA) is a new 28-story, mixed-use development supplying 211 affordable senior apartments, ground floor retail, and a community facility space for LGBTQ+ seniors in a designated disadvantaged community within Manhattan’s East Harlem neighborhood. With a senior population top of mind, multiple high-performance and resiliency features will contribute to an exceptional reduction in total carbon emissions, leading to a comfortable and healthy living environment for its residents. The building will also provide a library, gym, laundry room, terrace, and ground floor courtyard – fostering community connectivity. CVA has ambitious goals to prove that all-electric ground source heat pumps, Passive House design, and prefabricated panel buildings are viable for multifamily new construction in New York City.
