Project Description

Mission Power (opens in new window) is a developer and manufacturer of next-generation power electronics that is targeting applications in the quest to decarbonize the economy and is now ready to ramp up manufacturing with a new 20,000 square foot building with an ISO7 cleanroom, nitrogen supplied to production equipment, and room for continued growth of manufacturing and engineering staff. This project provides an opportunity for Mission Power to build a building that meets its manufacturing needs and forms a blueprint exploring how light manufacturing can achieve zero emissions. The project will feature a high-performance building envelope and will utilize an air source heat pump, a solar photovoltaic system with battery storage and includes electric vehicle charging stations. This building will help attract the talent that is committed to this energy transition and reduce the manufacturing costs to help accelerate new-energy adoption. Mission Power plans to build its facility in the Saratoga Technology + Energy Park (STEP).

The Building Cleaner Communities Competition supports regionally significant, zero emissions and resilient new construction and existing building renovation projects across New York State. Building Cleaner Communities projects demonstrate how they will help achieve the goals of the New York State Regional Economic Development Council’s Strategic Plan (opens in new window) or other State priorities, while creating resilient and functional spaces that are healthy, safe, comfortable.
