Offshore Wind Stakeholder Engagement

Stakeholder input is a critical component for the responsible development of renewable energy resources for New York State. Since the beginning of our program, NYSERDA has prioritized identifying and engaging with key stakeholder groups, especially routine ocean users, such as mariners and fishermen, whose activities will help shape offshore wind development.

Offshore wind development involves collaboration and cooperation between project developers, communities, marine users, labor organizations, state and city officials, and more. NYSERDA’s Guiding Principles for Offshore Wind Stakeholder Engagement [PDF] are intended to support developers as they design their Stakeholder Engagement Plans, which are required in NYSERDA’s solicitations for Offshore Wind Renewable Energy Certificates (ORECs).
