Working with educators, NYSERDA has created three interactive lessons designed to educate middle- and high-school students about the basics of offshore wind technology, how offshore wind will interact with communities in New York, and opportunities for community benefits and career pathways.
Classroom teachers, club leaders, extracurricular educators, and internship program managers can implement these Offshore Wind Lessons to fit the unique needs of their groups. Young people can also participate in the program independently and receive a certificate of completion.

Background
Development of these lessons kicked off with a public Listening Session on November 5, 2020. The webinar brought together leaders, educators, and advocates working at the intersection of youth education and environmental justice to explore the role of youth leadership in the State’s clean energy transition. On August 17, 2021, NYSERDA hosted a launch webinar to introduce the lessons and release the free materials. Watch the full recording here, and download the presentation slides [PDF].
