Creating Economic Opportunities in New York and Attracting Industry

Offshore wind is more than an emerging cornerstone of New York State’s pathway to a clean energy future. It is a burgeoning high-tech industry that will bring billions of dollars of investment and create thousands of jobs for New Yorkers in a range of sectors including manufacturing, installation, operations and maintenance, and project development. With a nation-leading commitment to developing 9,000 megawatts of offshore wind energy by 2035, a central location between Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states, core manufacturing competencies, pioneering education and labor institutions, and a veteran workforce, New York is ideally positioned to be the long-term hub of the U.S. offshore wind industry.

NYSERDA is facilitating collaboration between state agencies, labor organizations, academia, local businesses, and the global offshore wind industry to cultivate a New York-centered U.S. supply chain and develop clear pathways to well-paying, long-term careers in the offshore wind industry.

NYSERDA leads a Jobs and Supply Chain Technical Working Group comprised of representatives from key stakeholder groups. For more information, see our Technical Working Groups (TWGs) webpage.
