New York State has a variety of financial resources that help residents afford energy efficiency improvements to their home, as well as upgrade to more energy-efficient equipment.
New York State Utility Programs and Incentives
Gas and electric utilities across New York State have energy efficiency programs that can help you manage energy costs and reduce your carbon footprint. The following list provides information about energy efficiency programs at the major utilities serving New York State:

We offer a variety of technical support options and financial resources that help New Yorkers across all counties and income levels spend less on utility bills.
Energy Assessments and General Efficiency Upgrades
Home Energy Assessments
What is it? This program provides no cost home energy audits. This assessment provides you with a top-to-bottom look at where your home is using and wasting energy.
Who qualifies? New York State homeowners (single-family or multifamily home with up to four units)
Residential Loan Fund
What is it? Two loan options are available to help New York State homeowners finance energy efficiency upgrades on their home.
Who qualifies? New York State homeowners (single-family or multifamily home with up to four units) who meet credit qualifications
Income-Eligible Home Assessments and Efficiency Improvements
What is it? This program starts with a home energy assessment. This assessment provides you with a top-to-bottom look at where your home is using and wasting energy. Certain homeowners and renters may be eligible for certain improvements at reduced or no cost.
Who qualifies? New York State income-eligible homeowners and renters
Homeowners who receive a home energy rating may qualify for additional types of loans
Clean Heating and Cooling
NYS Clean Heat
What is it? Financial incentives for the installation of heat pumps.
Who qualifies? New York State homeowners
Personal Transportation
Plug-In Electric Vehicles
What is it? A rebate for new, plug-in electric vehicle car purchases or leases. This can be combined with a federal tax credit.
Who qualifies? All New York State residents
Renewable Energy
Residential Solar
What is it? Incentives and financing options to lower the cost of purchasing and installing solar at a home. Additional incentives are given to income-eligible households.
Who qualifies? New York State homeowners. Incentives are provided directly to your selected contractor and vary throughout the State.
Small Wind Turbines
What is it? Incentives for installing small wind turbines generating up to 2 MW per site, based on the expected annual energy output of the proposed wind energy system. Incentives are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who qualifies? New York State residents, with a maximum equipment size of 2 MW per site per customer
