Back to School Expo

NYSERDA is exhibiting at this event.

Join us at the Convention Center at the Empire State Plaza for the area’s largest STEM and WELLNESS exposition, the Back to School Exposition. Thousands of families will come together to enjoy ongoing entertainment, hands on science and engineering experiments, exhibitions, give-aways, celebrity appearances and much more!

It’s not always easy to convince children that they’ll have fun experiencing the wonders of science and math. The Back to School Expo introduces children to science and math in a non-traditional, non-intimidating setting. The event offers hands-on, interactive opportunities, complete with celebrity and character appearances, making education and science “fun” for the day!

Expect a special guest appearance from Jessie Prescott, a young woman from a small town with big dreams. Peyton List plays Emma on Disney’s hit series “Jessie” which became the networks most watched premier since 2008 and ranking No. 1 telecast at 9 p.m. scoring more than 4 million viewers among kids 6-14. Also each year, kid’s favorite characters make appearances at the Back to School Expo.

Don't forget to stop by the NYSERDA booth to learn how you can make your home and/or business more energy efficient, comfortable and safe, reduce your utility costs and help protect the environment. Come and see the difference between the LED and CFL lights by trying the light meter. Learn about the advanced power strips that are available that can help you cut your utility usage.

Mary Burke, Manager of Special Projects at NYSERDA will be at the Back to School Expo on behalf of the New York Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (NY STEAM) Girls Collaborative to promote the initiative and kick-off conference.

This conference to be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hudson Valley Community College's TEC-SMART is being sponsored by University at Albany/Informatics Department, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and Hudson Valley Community College. The New York STEAM Girls Collaborative brings together organizations throughout New York that are committed to informing and motivating girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
