How to Participate in NYTVIP: Vehicle Manufacturers

NYTVIP encourages vehicle manufacturers, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs), and Upfit/Retrofit Manufacturers (URMs) to offer a wide range of alternative fuel technologies and vehicle designs to meet New York State’s growing demand for alternative fuel medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. By stimulating fleet adoption of cleaner commercial vehicles, NYTVIP aims to catalyze the development of a robust and advanced clean vehicle economy for New York State.

To participate in NYTVIP, vehicle manufacturers and modifiers must apply to have their vehicles listed for voucher eligibility by submitting a Vehicle Eligibility ApplicationLink opens in new window - close new window to return to this page. [XLSM] (click here if you have difficult opening the Vehicle Eligiblity Application [XLSX]) to the Voucher Help Center (VHC) at NYTVIP@energycenter.org. Once a vehicle has been approved, the information will be posted on the NYTVIP website, where fleets will be able to identify the vehicle models and technologies that best suit their needs.

Generally, however, a vehicle must be a class 3-8 vehicle or class 4-8 truck in any of the below approved technology categories (personal passenger vehicles are NOT eligible):

  • All-Electric / Battery Electric (BEV)
  • Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV)
  • Conventional Hybrid Electric (HEV)
  • Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
  • Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Propane)

Voucher Process for Vehicle Manufacturers

  1. Step 1

    Manufacturer fills in and submits Vehicle Eligibility Application with supporting documents

  2. Step 2

    NYSERDA reviews application and requests any additional required information

  3. Step 3

    NYSERDA informs manufacturer of vehicle approval and posts vehicle on Eligible Vehicles List

  4. Step 4

    Approved vehicle models may be sold by NYSERDA-approved Contractors with approval from manufacturer

    Vehicle manufacturer downloads the Vehicle Eligibility ApplicationLink opens in new window - close new window to return to this page., completes it, and sends it with supporting attachments to NYSERDA via email: NYTVIP@energycenter.org.

    Note: You must "Enable Editing" and "Enable Content" to be able to add columns.
  • Step 3: Vehicle Eligibility Determination
    NYSERDA informs manufacturer of its judgment on vehicle eligibility. If approved, NYSERDA will post the vehicle model on the Eligible Vehicles List.
  • Step 4: Contractor Vehicle Sale
    The approved vehicle can be sold by participating Contractors that have already been approved to participate in NYTVIP and are authorized to sell the vehicle by its manufacturer.
