Residential/Small Commercial MW Block

The NY-Sun Incentive Program offers incentives to help reduce the installation costs associated with solar electric systems up to 25 kilowatt (kW) for residential customers, and up to 200 kW for nonresidential applications (larger multi-unit buildings, schools, not-for-profit, and government) in most of New York State.

MW Block Incentive Structure

The NY-Sun Incentive Program establishes incentives based on a Megawatt (MW) Block design that allocates MW targets to specific regions of the State and breaks those MW targets into blocks to which incentives are assigned. Incentives are awarded to applications based on the block in effect at the time of submission and then over to the next block, which has a decreased incentive, when a MW Block is fully subscribed. Incentives are available for qualified customers who wish to install a PV system using a Participating Contractor in the NY-Sun Incentive Program.

View the MW Block Dashboard for a detailed explanation and real-time information about status of the blocks.

For income eligible households, Affordable Solar doubles NY-Sun incentives for residential solar projects.

The incentives for current and future blocks are listed in the tables below. The incentives are not expected to change.
