NYSERDA seeks a qualified and highly motivated IT Solutions Architect to join the Salesforce development team. The Solutions Architect is responsible for the analysis, design and support of Salesforce / Force.com solutions that meet the business needs of the NYSERDA programs. The individual will follow an SDLC process and perform requirements analysis, specification development, system design, and testing associated with implementation and support of the technology stack.

The individual needs the ability to work in a team environment consisting of project managers, developers, DBAs, operations technical resources, subject matter experts, and system users to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of business process enhancements. Occasional travel within NYS is required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead small work teams (2-10 professionals) on projects. Manage project scope and customer expectations. Plan and organize the work of the team and ensure that accepted project methodology, techniques, tools, and solutions are being followed. Monitor and report on project status
  • Ensure design decisions balance factors along multiple axis including cost of development, cost of maintenance, time to market, code reusability, and system scalability
  • Develop and foster collaborative working relationships with the business users, project managers and team members
  • Ensure the successful implementation of assigned projects through the entire project lifecycle
  • Ensure high levels of quality through comprehensive testing (unit, system, integration, load testing, etc.)
  • Deliver quality enhancements on time and within budget
  • Assure that support & maintenance contracts for required software is current
  • Work with IT Operations to assure that adequate system backups are maintained and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested
  • Work with IT Operations to assure that capacity planning is done periodically to meet current & future business needs
  • Schedule & handle off-hours support and outages
  • Mentor team members in technology, architecture and delivery of applications
  • Create a shared sense of direction and community among the teams
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8 years of relevant IT experience as described above with at least 5 years of experience in Force.com
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Skill in handling multiple diverse activities simultaneously, delivering on commitments and operating with speed, accuracy, and strong judgment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of the solutions stack (Salesforce/Apex)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong executive presence and ability to interact with CxO level
  • Successful teamwork experience and demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Proven ability to transfer knowledge and stay aware of current trends and technical advancements
  • Great resourcefulness and an instinct for surfacing value and pragmatic solutions
  • A strong customer orientation

Preference will be given to those individuals who also possess the following:

  • Prior leadership experience
  • Experience with all aspects of the system implementation including, but not limited to, gathering requirements, designing a future state solution, testing, and post implementation support
  • Experience with gap analysis and strategic roadmap/blueprint development
  • Salesforce certifications and involvement within the Trailhead Community
