Small Business
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) offers technical and financial support to make this state's small business more energy efficient. We work with consumers, businesses, municipalities, and research institutions to develop clean-energy solutions, increase energy efficiency, protect the environment, and save money.
NYSERDA’s dedicated energy experts can assist customers in accessing programs designed specifically for entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Energy Efficiency Programs
NYSERDA’s programs are designed to lower energy costs by encouraging energy efficiency. They are principally funded by a System Benefits Charge (SBC) paid by utility distribution customers.
The programs are available to utility distribution customers (residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial) who pay into SBC. NYSERDA, a public benefit corporation, established by law in 1975, administers SBC funds and programs under an agreement with the Public Service Commission. Several programs have been designed with the small customer in mind:
-
FlexTech Energy Audit offers free energy audits to help small businesses make informed energy decisions and implement energy-efficiency strategies.
-
Existing Facilities Program has Pre-Qualified Incentives available to customers interested in purchasing and installing energy–efficient equipment such as lighting, HVAC and motors at their facility.
-
New Construction Program offers technical services and financial incentives to building owners and designers for new construction and major renovation projects.
If you are a small commercial/industrial provider of lighting, motors, or HVAC systems, consider becoming one of our Business Partners.
