Recently, six organizations were named winners of the State Science & Technology Institute’s (SSTI) 2011 Excellence in TBED award for “serving as national models for states and regions investing in science, technology and innovation to grow their economies and create high-paying jobs.” Among the six winners was RIT’s Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies.
“On behalf of NYSERDA, I congratulate RIT’s Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies on receiving the SSTI Excellence in TBED Award. This award recognizes the center’s work helping to grow high-tech businesses around the state and for its job creation and retention,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO of NYSERDA. “We are proud of our partnership with CIMS through the Venture Creations incubator and applaud the recognition it has received for its innovative work in expanding markets, enhancing productivity, speeding innovation and training personnel.”
RIT’s Venture Creations incubator is funded by a grant from NYSERDA to support the creation of business opportunities. The incubator provides assistance with evaluating business opportunities, support with developing business plans, business mentoring and guidance, access to RIT's faculty and laboratory resources, student co-ops and interns and low-cost space.
