Press Releases - Delegation of Energy Efficiency Policy Makers from India visit NYSERDA

Albany, NY – A delegation of six energy policy makers from India, led by Dr. Satish Kumar of International Resources Group, paid a visit to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) in Albany on July 31 to confer with energy counterparts in New York.
Dr. Kumar, a leading international expert in the field of building and public sector energy efficiency, is team leader of the USAID ECO-III Project. ECO-III focuses on improving energy efficiency in buildings as well as developing energy efficiency capacity in India.
The delegation included: Rita Acharya, Director of Energy Conservation, Ministry of Power; Sanjay Seth, Energy Economist, Bureau of Energy Efficiency; Daksha Vaja, Manager, Mass Communication for Gujarat Energy Development Agency; Davinder Singh, Senior Manager, Punjab Energy Development Agency; and Ajitpal Singh Brar, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department (Building & Roads Branch) Govt. of Punjab.
Tom Lynch, NYSERDA’s Director of External Affairs, said “One of the most important aspects of achieving improved energy efficiency is the active cooperation of nations sharing ideas and best practices,” said Lynch. “We look forward to continued collaboration with our friends and colleagues from India in the future.”
Prior to the NYSERDA visit, the delegation toured RPI’s Lighting Research Center in Troy and met with energy experts in Washington, D.C.; and visits to New York City and San Francisco were scheduled before returning to India.
