NY-Sun aims to drive a significant increase in solar power in New York.
Getting a home energy assessment can help you take control of your energy costs. It can identify where your house is using the most energy and which improvements would have the biggest impact on your bottom line. Heating and cooling costs frequently account for 50% of residential energy bills. Identifying your energy waste can lead to big savings.
65% of New York consumers agree that picking out the right bulb is a difficult process. But using energy-efficient lighting like LED and CFL light bulbs helps you to save money on your energy bill, and there are quick guides to explain the bulb options.
Imagine a house that produces as much or more energy than is used – cutting annual net energy bills down to zero. A net zero energy home can achieve this, providing you with significant energy savings over time.
Multifaceted approach aims to lower energy costs for all New Yorkers by increasing solar power capacity and the efficiency and reliability of the electric grid. Public-private partnerships help make installing solar technology more affordable for all New Yorkers while scaling up New York’s solar industry. In addition to the Solar Electric Program, the NY-Sun initiative also includes training for installers and public officials, standardized permitting, customer aggregation, and consumer education.
Supports the installation of high-efficiency, low emission wood heating technology for residential, municipal, and commercial buildings. These advanced technology heating systems enable consumers to use local wood pellets and cordwood as fuel in a cleaner way. Technologies include stoves and pellet and cordwood boilers with thermal storage, many of which are made right here in New York State.
Provides support for solar thermal technology, which harnesses the power of the sun to provide solar thermal energy for preheating domestic hot water.
Increases the amount of clean, renewable energy that is generated in New York State by providing support for installing on-site wind turbines in size up to 2 MW per site. The program offers assistance with qualified equipment with a proven track record installed by eligible installers. Support is based on the estimated annual output of the behind-the-meter turbine, at the proposed site, as determined by computer modeling.
