Funding for Energy Efficiency Training
New York’s Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard (EEPS) mandates that the state’s residents reduce their electricity usage by 15% of forecast levels by the year 2015, with comparable results in natural gas conservation. In order to achieve these goals, we must significantly expand existing energy efficiency training efforts.
In June 2009, the NYS Public Service Commission authorized $6.6 million for a Workforce Development Program to be administered by NYSERDA. NYSERDA’s goal, with its partners, is to train and certify over 6,200 workers to carry out the efficiency programs implemented by NYSERDA and the utilities.

To implement the workforce development goals outlined in the EEPS Operating Plan, NYSERDA is seeking partnerships with eligible training entities to deliver energy efficiency training programs throughout New York State.
