EmPower New York makes a difference for families trying to make ends meet.

Rising energy prices are affecting us all. Here's where we can help.

EmPower New York is a program sponsored by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). If you are part of a household with a limited income, we help you take control of their energy use. Our BPI accredited participating contractors will evaluate your home and provide energy efficiency services, such as high-efficiency lighting, refrigerator replacement, and insulation, all at no cost to you. Plus, we can show you how to better manage your energy costs.

If you answer 'yes' to the following questions, then you're eligible to apply:

• Do you live in a building with 100 units or fewer?
• Do you have a household income below 60% of the State Median Income (eligible for regular HEAP benefits), or participate in a utility payment assistance program?

Sounds too good to be true, so what's the catch?
There isn't one. NYSERDA's mission is to reduce New York's energy use, minimize environmental impact and maintain energy affordability. EmPower New York accomplishes this and it makes your life easier, too.
