NYSERDA projects are directed at reducing environmental compliance costs and increasing profitability so that agricultural and industrial businesses can remain viable.

NYSERDA's Agricultural Waste Management Program focuses on farms under pressure to control contaminants from manure. To meet these challenges, farms are partnering with NYSERDA to evaluate potential technological solutions, innovative business structures, and community waste management systems that could improve system economics and farm profitability. Technologies being evaluated include:

  • Anaerobic digestion of manure
  • On-site production of electricity from digester biogas
  • Composting of manure and digested solids.

In addition, NYSERDA has contracted with Cornell to help transfer the program's results throughout the State. Visit The Cornell Dairy Environmental Systems Program Link opens in new window - close new window to return to this page. for additional information.

NYSERDA supports projects at industrial facilities in New York to produce biogas and reduce waste with anaerobic digestion technology.
