Data Center Incentives
Over $100 Million Available to Improve Productivity and Your Bottom Line
Energy efficiency has the ability to help organizations become more economically competitive by reducing their operating costs while simultaneously lessening their environmental impact. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Industrial and Process Efficiency (IPE) program offers performance based incentives to help data center owners and operators offset the cost of investments in energy efficiency and IT productivity projects in their data centers.
Con Edison and NYSERDA Data Center Partnership
The Data Center Efficiency Program
is a powerful new partnership to help data center customers in the Con Edison service territory reduce their energy usage, save on operating costs and cut greenhouse gas emissions through more efficient use of electricity. Under the new initiative, Con Edison and NYSERDA will work together to provide data centers with individualized and targeted technical assistance as well as up to $10 million in funding for energy efficiency initiatives that will generate as much as $8 million in annual energy savings.
To participate in the program, data centers can call 1-212-701-7222 or fill out the Customer Assistance Form [PDF] and send it to IPEOutreach@nyserda.ny.gov
Or fill out a Consolidated Funding Application.

NYSERDA assists data center owners and operators through the following NYSERDA programs:
- FlexTech: Provides cost sharing to conduct energy studies, perform computational fluid dynamics and other airflow studies, develop energy and IT master plans, catalog existing servers and applications, perform lean assessments and evaluate IT system improvements.
- Industrial and Process Efficiency: Provides performance based incentives to offset the cost of investments in energy efficiency and IT productivity projects at existing data center sites.
- New Construction: Provides performance based incentives to offset the cost of investments in energy efficiency and IT productivity projects at newly constructed or substantially renovated data center sites.
- DCEEF [PDF]: The Data Center Energy Efficiency Framework (DCEEF) is a set of best practices for reducing data center energy consumption. The framework reflects extensive input on proven energy-reduction technologies and strategies from data center professionals, vendors, and industry experts. Download a free copy [PDF] of the DCEEF.
