Dwelling Units Within Low-Rise Multi-Unit & Multifamily Buildings

Dwelling units within low-rise multi-unit & multifamily buildings may earn the New York ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes designation and earn program incentives for every unit in the project through the Low-rise Residential New Construction Program. Dwelling units of any size, style or price range can be designed and constructed to the standards required of a New York ENERGY STAR Certified Home, including rental units, townhomes or condominiums.

  • Incentives range from $2,000 to $8,000, per dwelling unit
  • Model and Display homes may be eligible for an additional $1,000 incentive
  • Ground Up New Construction or Gut Rehabilitation projects may be eligible

Technical support at multiple levels is available from your selected RESNET Home Energy Rater and their Quality Assurance Provider, as well as support offered by NYSERDA. For more information, please review NYSERDA’s Low-rise Residential New Construction Program.

Buildings that are 4 stories or more may qualify for NYSERDA’s Multifamily Performance Program for New Construction, while some 4 and 5 story buildings will be eligible for NYSERDA's Low-rise Residential New Construction Program.
