Whether you’re ready to expand your business or start a new one, partnering with NYSERDA and choosing to build New York ENERGY STAR Certified Homes can give the support you need to succeed. Follow the steps below to become a New York ENERGY STAR Certified Homes Builder.
Step 1: Download, sign and submit the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) online partnership agreement and complete the online ENERGY STAR Orientation Training.
Step 2: Download and read the Low-rise Residential New Construction Program Partnership Agreement [PDF], which outlines essential details regarding each builder's business partnership with NYSERDA.
Step 3: Download and read the Low-rise Residential New Construction Program Builder Requirements [PDF].
Step 4: Partner with a Home Energy Rater. They are here to ensure you meet program requirements on every construction project. Use our Resource Locator Map to find one near you. Once we’ve approved partnership, you will be listed as a New York ENERGY STAR Certified Homes Builder on our website.
Step 5: Partner with an HVAC contractor credentialed by an HVAC Quality Installation Training and Oversight Organization (H-QUITO) and your qualified HVAC contractor may elect to be affiliated either with NYSERDA or ACCA. HVAC/H-QUITO contractors affiliated with NYSERDA are listed by county on our Resource Locator Map, or view NYSERDA’s entire statewide list of affiliated HVAC contractors; Select HVAC Contractors affiliated with ACCA or HVAC contractors affiliated with Advanced Energy QAP to view their contractor directory.
Step 6: Download the Low-rise Residential New Construction Program Builder Signature Form [PDF] and complete it electronically; then print, sign, and submit the completed form to NYSERDA.
