Advanced RTU Campaign Resource Spotlight: RTU Performance Calculators

NYSERDA is a sponsor of this event.

Description

The Advanced RTU Campaign is a collaboration between ASHRAE, the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Better Buildings Alliance. The purpose of the campaign is to promote adoption of high efficiency RTU technologies by aligning stakeholders and by increasing access to resources available to building owners, managers, and contractors.

This latest webinar is an introduction to an RTU evaluation approach and two performance calculators that building owners, managers, contractors, and operators can use to evaluate their RTUs for energy and cost savings.

• A simple approach to evaluating RTUs for retrofit or replacement will be presented showing how to include the energy and economic performance as determined from the two simple calculators are provided as part of the Advanced RTU Campaign – the Rooftop Unit Comparison Calculator and the 179D DOE Calculator.
• The DOE/PNNL Rooftop Unit Comparison Calculator allows users to compare their existing units to potential replacements and to evaluate financial and energy savings results. We will walk through the calculator’s inputs and an example analysis.
• The 179D DOE Calculator allows users to determine the savings potential for energy efficient improvements and determine qualification for the 179D Federal tax deduction. We will walk through the how to use the calculator and get a report approved for tax purposes.

In the webinar we will give an overview of a general evaluation approach and the two calculators, and discuss examples of how these tools can be used to help your organization evaluate the impact and cost saving benefits of implementing high efficiency RTU technology.
